Are Tesla jack pucks necessary?
If a shop is going to lift the car, yes — and only the diameter that seats in the hole. You do not need a spare. No 3 or Y ships with one.

The short version
You need the right puck size if you jack the car. You do not need a spare. Shops miss the lift hole and dent the battery rail. The puck is the cheap insurance. The compressor is a different job.
Measure the hole
Some 2024–26 cars are ~19 mm; older cars are ~24 mm. A puck that rattles or will not seat is the wrong diameter, not a “break-in.” The ranked lift set is Spigen jack pads — four pucks with a compact magnetic case. Fits any Model 3 or Y. Not a tire inflator.
